San Diego accommodation choices

I'm finally narrowing down choices for San Diego accommodation for my family of 4. We have decided that we must keep within a budget of US$100 a night, which excludes some previously recommended places. Can anyone please offer their recommendations out of:

Villager Lodge Gas Lamp
Studio Apartment Las Fuentes (apartments in Old Town)
Ramada Inn and Suites Downtown
Best Western Lamp Lighter Inn and Suites
Gas Lamp Plaza Suites
Dana Inn and marina

Thanks so much -- Andrea.

I'd go for the gaslamp Plaza suites. They are the most centrally located in the gaslamp area,as well as the nicest. The others you mention are more rundown, motel-type places on the outskirts of downtown.

I stayed at the Villager Lodge Gas Lamp about a couple of years ago. It was nice but the room was small & cramped. But I did have a microwave & fridge in my room too. And I remember the room being extremely warm.

I would go with the previous post (though I never stayed there myself but I'm sure it's nice).

Andrea: I recently got back from SD & stayed at the Westin Horton Plaza which is very close to a couple of the places you mentioned. We got a rate of $99 a night plus tax. The location was great for walking around the gaslamp quarter -- lots of restaurants nearby. Keep in mind that hotel taxes are very high though.
