San Diego

Has anyone out there stayed at the Coronado Island Marriott?? It looks great on the Marriott website. We are looking for a relaxing place to spend a four night vacation after driving down from San Fran. We love the beach, and the Hotel Del is just a little too pricey. Suggestions???
The Marriott on Coronado used to be the Le Meridien Hotel which was considered one of the best is San Diego. Although I have never stayed there, I have visited it on numerous occasions and it is quite nice. People I know who have stayed there, loved it. One thing you should know is that it is not located on an " ocean " beach. Its on the bay and the beach is not nearly as nice as the Hotel Del Coronado which, in my opinion, has one of the nicest beaches in San Diego. If you are looking for a beachfront hotel because you love the beach, the Marriott may not be the right choice for you.

I stayed there when it was Le Meridien -- it was great! But as the previous poster said -- it's NOT on the beach. If that's what you're looking for the Del might be a better bet even for the higher price.

Thanks for the input!! We will be in SD in mid-May, is this even beach weather? Will it be warm enough during the day to swim? If this is not a consideration, then I guess it doesn't matter? Feedback??
It is probably warm enough but that time of year is known to have some fog that hangs along the coast. But maybe not - 50/50 I guesss. The water will be cold if that is a consideration for you.
