San Antonio, TX at Thanksgiving

Will be in San Antonio over Thanksgiving. Can you please suggest a nice restaurant for a family dinner on Thanksgiving Day.

If you don't want Mexican food, try Luby's or another on this list. http://sanantonio.about.com/od/dinin...estaurants.htm

This is a link to an article from last year:

You can check for recs or google for articles once it's closer to Thanksgiving.

Unfortunately, Auden's Kitchen has closed. Biga on the Banks is Auden's other restaurant.

We are not fancy at Thanksgiving, and would probably choose Earl Abel's which is sort of an upscale diner. Maybe not so upscale. Le Madeleine is a chain restaurant but might suit your needs. I would not choose to go to Luby's for Thanksgiving.

If you could tell us more about what you want, we could advise you better.

Not sure if you are staying downtown but if so the St. Anthony hotel does an excellent Thanksgiving brunch/dinner buffet. So does the Menger hotel (famous for their mango ice cream). Have not been in a couple years, but they have always been good.

Agree that Luby's is not first choice for Thanksgiving - it's a cafeteria, not horrible for the occasional quick meal but nowhere near a venue for a special holiday meal.

Earl Abel's is a local institution, fyb accurately describes it as a diner but perhaps with an ambiance a step above something you'd see along the highway in New Jersey. Their home made pies are local legends.

Do provide a bit more detail - number of people, ages, budget, part of town - and we can be more helpful.
