San Antonio Riverwalk - weather question
I see that the winds are predicted to be in the upper teens to low 20's in the near future in San Antonio.
Does the Riverwalk area create a wind tunnel or is it well protected from the winds? Thanks :) |
I'm looking at several weather sites and don't see that forecast. From where are you getting your windy info?
Either way fcst is for highs in the 60's to 70's. Wind tunnel effects typically matter more when we're talking 10 degrees or 20 or 30 degrees. To answer your question, though, they don't create any wind tunnel effect as best I can recall. |

OK, I see it. About a 3hr window Sunday morning where winds may blow above 10mph.
Outside of that it's just her merry little breezes. Nothing to think twice about in my book. |
Thanks for the input. :)

Hi moldy...when it is cold and windy street level, Riverwalk is almost always calm and warmer feeling. It is well protected by the buildings, trees, and numerous bends in the river. The only place I've felt anything resembling the wind tunnel effect was down by the convention center on a day the winds were screaming out of the north. Otherwise, you are warmer there than street level. Weatherunderground shows temps in the 60s and 70's after today's misery of 49. It should be fine.

http://tinyurl.com/Duluth-weather Count your blessings :-) (FWIW, I also "freeze" when it's below 50 in the Bay Area)</i> |
Thanks, OO.
I'm still working on convincing my friend we need to road trip for lunch! |
Wow, I'm pretty sure we wont be in the teens here. I'd have prepared for that. I love cold weather but freezing for me is about 40..
The riverwalk is pretty well protected. |
misskris - I think the reference to "teens" is the wind speed, not the temperature.
Hi moldy - we've never noticed wind effects on the Riverwalk. As noted it's pretty well protected except for occasional gusts in the convention center area - and that's only if it's really windy. |
Hello back to ya, dfr.
I wasn't able to convince my friend that we needed to road trip for lunch. Looks like I need to keep working on her! Why don't others find it perfectly reasonable to drive four hours each way just to go have lunch!? :) |
hey, Moldy. I've driven to Houston for lunch so I don't see a thing wrong with driving to SA for lunch :)
|
moldy - you definitely need to work on your friend. 4 hrs for lunch is imminently reasonable (!).
|
Well, I'm trying!
