We went to San Antonio last January. We stayed at the RiverWalk AmeriSuites. You just walk out the backdoor to the riverwalk. Free parking and a great free breakfast. We rented a car at the airport but really didn't need it.

Thanks to all for their recs (and thanks to SiestaLinda for hitching a ride on her post). We're staying 2 nights at the Marriott Riverwalk using points, but then wanted to try somewhere else. Still haven't made up our minds, but will send a report after our trip in April.

i used to live in san antonio about 10 years ago,.and there was (or maybe still is) a hotel that is actually a part of the riverwalk mall,.that would be my best suggestion..it is right on the riverwalk,.the mall itself gives a great view of the riverwalk, and there is a nice food court that overlooks the riverwalk as well. and the alamo and hard rock cafe are all nearby. you can also try the crockett motel, it is right behind the alamo.
