san antonio novels?
Does anyone know of any good novels that are set in San Antonio?
My daughter and I are going there in April and I would love to read about the city ( in fiction-form) beofre, during and/or after the trip!
Thanks.

That's easy. Anything to do with the Alamo.
If you like mysteries (more cozy than hardboiled), I recommend "Death on the River Walk" by Carolyn Hart.
Thanks, Patty.that's sounds just right:)
Another mystery set in SA is Rick Riordan's Tres Navarre series which begins with 'Big Red Tequila'. It's fun reading--Tres has a cat named Robert Johnson who is named after a real person with a connection to San Antonio.
Laura Lippman's "In Big Trouble," is set in San Antonio and Austin. It's about the third or fourth book in her Tess Monagham series.
I did the same thing when I was going to visit Austin. Here is a web site that might interest you:

http://www.sanantonio.gov/library/fiction/fic_TX-SanAntonio.asp

Thanks, everyone. I'm off to the library!!

Great website Shannon! Thanks. More cities should have a listing like that.

My wife likes Jay Brandon's books. He writes trial mysteries based in San Antonio.
Second the Laura Lippman book - she is wonderful, although most of her books are set in the Baltimore area....
For a historical perspective try "Gates Of The Alamo". Fictional novel set against historical events at the Alamo.
