San Antonio Marriotts

I've read a lot of reviews but would appreciate from the fodorites which Marriott on the Riverwalk is the nicer. We are limited to staying at a Marriott or the Hilton. Maybe you could comment on proximity to restaurants, newness etc. A lot of the negative reviews I've read, I disregard when I know problems can be solved by simply telling someone and asking that it be resolved. Nothing is perfect.
Also, how many days of a 9 day trip should we plan on in San Antonio? We're going up to Austin to stay and then the hill country. Should we plan on day trips to the hill country or stay over? And lastly we'll be going to Corpus Christi and the coast, probably Port Aranasas?
We love to drive and see the sights, good restaurants, history and relaxation.
I know I'm duplicating posts but sometimes you give fresher insight.
Thanks!!!!!

We stayed at Marriott Riverwalk back in November and thought it was a wonderful place to stay and would stay there again if ever in San Antonio. The rooms are very nice and the exercise facilities ae excellent. We had a room overlooking the Riverwalk area. The Marriott Riverwalk and Marriott Rivercenter are across the street from each other, so one location is no better than the other. I thought 2-3 days was plenty of time to spend in the city. We spent the better part of one day at the outlet malls.

In terms of location, they are literally across the street from each other and both convenient to Riverwalk and convention center. The Rivercenter is a bit newer but both properties are well maintained. The Hilton Palacio delRio is an older property (on of the oldest on the river) and not one of my favorites but some like its location , which is not really any better than the Marriotts.
In terms of scheduling, Corpus or Port A are not day trips - plan at least an overnight if not two. The hill country can be done in day trips or overnights. depending on where you plan to visit. For Austin, a day trip is possible but staying over would let you enjoy the nightlife.

Thank you. The Rivercenter looked newer. It's hard to decide but as long as the beds are those nice new ones. We plan on spending a few days in both Austin and CC but meant the day trips to be from Austin.

The Marriot Rivercenter is really nice, and if you can get a room with a view of the city, it's nice at night with all the lights. It's within walking distance of a lot, too.

The Rivercenter does look nicer but the fact that the Riverwalk has balconies is very tempting. People should have so many problems as to what nice hotel I can stay at???!!!!!
Let's take a vote...Riverwalk or Rivercenter?
And the winner is.....
Gosh you people are tolerant! Thanks!
