San Antonio Hotel....
Hello all.... I'm looking for suggestions for hotel in San Antonio, TX. My 13 year old daughter and I are escaping the city (NYC) for a few days and wanted to stay at a "nicer" hotel with a good sunning pool. Basically just looking to relax, but not so far from any attractions, say river walk, sea world... also would love some suggestions. We are trying to book this for this coming wednesday. Its literally an escape!
Thanks!! |
Just wanted to top this thread so some SA experts can see it.
I do know the Hyatt Hill Country Resort is close to Sea World. I believe there are some nice hotels on the River Walk as well, but not sure which ones have nice pools. http://hillcountry.hyatt.com/hyatt/h...sanhcredirect1 Best of luck in your search. |
Suggest the Watermark Hotel - very nice, great spa and on the riverwalk.

I have stayed numerous times at the Holiday Inn Select by the airport. It is a nice hotel and has a nice pool area. It is easy to get to different locations from there, but if you want close to the Riverwalk, we have also stayed at the Drury Inn. San Antonio is a lot of fun! I will be there Friday and then up to Austin Saturday and Sunday this next weekend.

My family and I just got back from the Hyatt Hill Country Resort and loved it. Very pretty hotel, fantastic pool with a lazy river, nature trails, free bikes to pick up and use around the resort, activities throughout the day and evening for the family (smores at night, wagon rides, outdoor movies, etc)... it's a very fun place. It's also right across the freeway from Sea World - you can't get any closer. It's about a 20 minute drive to downtown San Antonio and the Riverwalk. The Riverwalk is gorgeous but is basically populated with one (chain) restaurant after another and not much else.
If you can, take a 1/2 day or day and drive around the hill country - it's beautiful and you get a feel for Texas. Also make a trip to New Braunfels and Gruene (about 30 mins north of San Antonio). These two small towns have gorgeous spring fed rivers (cold!) ...Gruene has the oldest Texas Dance Hall (gruenehall.com) and they host a fun gospel brunch once a month on Sunday. NB also has the Schlitterbahn waterpark - the #1 waterpark in the world (and it's pretty to boot). Write if you have any more questions! |
I like the Hotel Contessa. Small pool, but you can sun there. On the riverwalk, nice bar. Hyatt Hill Country is great but not even near the Riverwalk.

I can't let this go -- the Riverwalk is NOT full of chain restaurants. It has lots of restaurants that are San Antonio-specific!
