Salt Lake City

A convention is planned in late February in Salt Lake City. I need ideas on 4 to 5 star hotels. What is Little America Hotel like? I would also appreciate suggestions on uniquic resturants and activities. I know these are broad questions, but I would love to research all ideas. thanks

The Little America Hotel is nice. It's a great old hotel in the heart of Salt Lake. You may also want to check out the two Marriotts. They are also very nice and would fit your 4 or 5 star criteria. By unique restaurants, I don't know if you're talking fancy or not. The two that come to mind are:
The Mayan
This actually is in Sandy, a close suburb of Salt Lake. It is a Mexican Restaurant unlike any I've ever seen.
There are cliff divers inside the restaurant and the entire atmospehere is very unique. This is more of a casual restaurant.
La Calle at Quail Run.
This is a very pricy, first class restaurant with a French theme.
If the snow is good at that time, you could go skiing. Temple Square in Salt Lake is also worth a visit.

The Grand America is the only 5 star hotel in Salt Lake. The President stayed there recently in the $4,500 a night Presidential suite. All the employees have passed their background checks. The Little America Hotel is across the street from the Grand America. Not as Grand, but I've heard good things about it.

Market Street Grill - for Seafood, The New Yorker - for steak, the Gateway for movies and shopping. The food at the Mayan is terrible, unless you really want to see the divers skip it. The snow should be fabulous in February. If you don't ski, consider snowmobiles, tubing or a trip up to Park City's main street for dinner and shopping.

Egret, ergret!

How could you send someone to the Mayan? Just walking past the place was more than I could handle! Think Rainforest Cafe, but much, much worse.

To add to Barbara's suggestions, if you want to stay in Park City and pay $$$, Stein Ericson's Lodge is a 5 diamond AAA rated. Too many great restaurants to list, but two of my favorites are Grappa (as for uniqueness, Grappa is in a historical building that used to be a brothel) on Main Street and Glitritind at Stein's.

In SLC, Log Haven in Mill Creek Canyon would be a nice experience in Feb.

Of course the snow will be great! Bring your skis.

Powder to the people

Barbara,

will you guys be in town next weekend?
