Salt Lake City - 6 days
Hi Friends,
We have a trip scheduled in and out of the Salt Lake City airport in June. We love outdoor activities and beginner-medium hikes. Willing to drive and stay in different towns, but we don't want to spend all of our time on the road or in lines if that makes sense. A few extra notes: 1. We land in SLC at 10pm on a Thursday night, so we might get a cheap hotel by the airport and hit the road first thing in the next morning. 2. Starting that Friday morning, we will have 6 full days. Our flight home will be 11pm the following Wednesday. 3. Hoping to spend the last night or two in Park City, so we can backtrack to the area for the flight home. 4. We don't need to see everything, i.e. we value relaxing in between adventure. 5. I always appreciate specific recommendations from this group including hotels, trails, etc. With all of this in mind, what would your ideal plan be? Thanks in advance! Rosebud |
Drive 3.5 hours to Moab and see both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. Moab is the mountain biking capital of the US. Just west of SLC you can take a 45-minute boat exursion ride on the saltwater of the Great Salt Lake at the Great Salt Lake State Park marina. East of SLC is an easy trail up Big Cottonwood Canyon. Lovely mountain scenery along with the waterfall. It only takes 90 minutes and is partly shaded.
