Hi Kate:
It looks like a great place! 123 West 57th Street is their addresss. It is between 7 & 8 Avenues. I checked their website www.nycsalisbury.com.
You are on a very busy street right in the heart of Manhattan. Many buses and subways in the areas. Plenty of shops and restaurants in the area. Have A great time in NYC!

Hi Kate
I spent a week there in 1998 and would highly recommend it. Every other time since when I have gone to NYC I have tried to stay there but it is always booked out. It would still be my first choice. The rooms are huge and clean, nothing fancy, but the bathrooms are modern. There was a kitchenette in the room we stayed in that had seen better days but it provided a sink and a fridge and that was what we wanted. I have to say the staff were just delightful, so helpful and knowledgeable unlike other hotels I have stayed in. Did you know the Salisbury is owned and run by the Calvary Baptist Church next door. So it is a dry hotel but that just means it doesn't provide you with alcohol but you can buy it and take it to your room. Also a wonderful continental buffet breakfast is included in the price (to me this is a huge selling point). Also location is great. I found it very handy when catching a taxi back to the hotel to be able to say take me to Planet Hollywood (which is across the road) as the taxi drivers just couldn't understand Salisbury hotel, maybe it was my accent! So, definitely book the hotel and have a wonderful time.

Anne in Australia

Hi Anne

sounds good, thanx for the info. That will be handy just asking taxi for planet hollywood, saves having to work all the street and avenue stuff!!!

where in Oz are you from, i am hoping to go over there next year and do a tour of the east coast. Everyone i know who has been to Australia absolutely loved it....great place to live!!!

Hi AC,

looking to going to the theatre maybe riverdance or the christmas thing at radio city hall, don't know whether to book expensive tickets over internet or wait till we get there and go to tckt booth???

Also looking for some good bars and restaurants for mum and i to go to. Perhaps close to the hotel so don't have to travel too far back at night.

Cheers

Kate

Hi Kate:
The Christmas Show At Radio City is pretty popular. You might want to get tickets soon. RiverDance is ending soon so same goes for that. 3rd Avenue is loaded with great bars and restaurants. Do a search here or ask in another post. You'll get some great suggetions! Good Luck!
Hi Kate

I live in Perth, Western Australia. If you get the chance head over this way. Most visitors from the US and Canada only see the east coast and don't bother with the west. And I can tell you, you are missing out on some great country. Yes, it is a 5 hour flight but definitely worthwhile.

Anne in Perth, Australia
