SAGUARO

I am planning a trip to Arizona aaandd thought that I would really like to see Saguaro National Park. The way my plans are working, I don't know if I will make it down to Tucson or not. Are there any other places in Arizona where you can get a good viewing of the saguaros?

There are saguaros all around The Valley of the Sun, that includes Phoenix, Scottsdale and surrounding towns...just get out of town a bit in any direction, but also, many homes with desert landscaping have saguaros. One road in particular that has a large selection of saguaros is going west from Phoenix to Wickenburg or Lake Pleasant, Hwy. 60 and also, the Apache Trail, alongside three lakes, Roosevelt, Canyon and Apache. Also, out around Fountain Hills, east of Phoenix. All these drives are easily found and easily driven.

Lots of Saguaros along the highways. There's a Botanical Garden in Phoenix.

I remember saguros out near FLW's Taliesin West. They are really unique and very old, most of them.

My grandparents moved to Mesa, AZ in the early 1970's, we would take a family driving trip from IL once a year to visit them, our 1st sightings of Saquaro's was always right after we left the canyon (Salt Creek or Snake River?) coming into Globe & Superior...then when we got to the valley it was non-stop cacti, is it still this way?

Susan is talking about Salt River Canyon and it is the same, except coming into the valley from Globe/Miami/Superior you will now see developments much closer to the Superstitions.
