safest beaches with kids

Hi,
Thanks for your advice. We are traveling with children ages 4 to 14. Looking to the wailea or kaanapali area. We would like good snorkeling for my older boys 14 and 12 but also a safe beach area for the 4 year old.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Susan

The Sheraton in Maui wins hands down. Great snorkeling right off shore, good beach. They just re-did the resort as well, so great place to stay.

You can use the beach even if you don't stay there.

For a more low-rise traditional feeling and a great combination swimming/snorkeling beach, we love the Napili Kai Beach Club at Napili on Maui (north of Kanapaali)...Swimming pool not fancy, though.

Yes, the Sheraton location has great beach and snorkeling at Black Rock. If this is too expensive, right next door is the Kaanapali Beach Hotel. Ask for Partial Ocean View renovated room--has 2 double beds and a day bed--clean, most Hawaiian award, free lei making and hula classes. Only draw back is the pool--nothing special and no jacuzzi.

We stayed at the Outrigger Wailea and while there is no beach directly in front of the hotel, (there is ocean) there are two beautiful white sand beaches on either side. Having stayed in Kaanapali on our last Maui visit, we thought that the Wailea beaches were by far the nicest.
