safe areas in Harlem

How safe is it in the area around the 125th street #1 subway stop? Any restaurant suggestions in that area?

It's safe. My brother and his wife lived near there for three years and never once experienced an uncomfortable situation.

Sylvia's is near there, and that's the popular soul-food joint for tourists (watch for the tour buses full of white people get off, eat at Sylvia's, then get back on the bus for Times Square), but in all honesty it's mediocre. I had one unexciting breakfast there, and the service was slow like you wouldn't believe. The atmosphere is fun, though -- they have live singers, etc.

Anyway, the one other soul food place I ate at up there was Amy Ruth's, and it's worth a look.

Wow, forgive me. The 1 is far west of the area I was thinking of. I was thinking of the 3 train.

Please disregard my entire post.

The 1 125th street stop is safe too. I've been going to the Dino since it opened and over New Years actually walked all the way to St. John Divine Church from there. No problem at all. :)

what do you think about the Dino?
