Sacramento to S.Lake Tahoe transpt. & disc. lift tkts

Don't want to rent a car and have been unable to find ground transportation from the Sacramento Airport to South Lake Tahoe / Heavenly Vally. I have looked at the airport site and other Tahoe sites but have drawn a blank. Anybody have any suggestions on bus, train etc. services?
Also any advice on coupons for discount lift tickets to Northstar or Heavenly?

There were people with skis on the Capitol corridor last night, so there must we a way to get there via Amtrac. You might try the web site and see if this works for you.

I found on the Amtrak site that they have a bus but they only offer 3 times a day. None of which are convenient. Other than renting a car any other suggestions?

Can you fly into Reno instead of Sacramento? The Airporter runs often - a bus from Reno airport to South Tahoe, and I think 24/7.

I am not aware of any public transportation offered directly from the Sacramento Airport to South Lake Tahoe. Amtrak would be available from downtown Sacramento to take you to Truckee where you can connect by regular scheduled buses to the North Shore. For both the North and particularly the South Shore, you could take a bus (Greyhound) from downtown Sacramento. Once you get arrive, there is plenty of transportation available around the lake. To find out about it, do a Google search for "Transportion in Lake Tahoe." Depending on where you are staying, you can sometimes get packages that include both lodging and lift tickets which can be a good value.

Flying to Reno would definitely be more convenient for transport to South Tahoe. Albertsons grocery stores (away from lake area) should have discount Heavenly tickets. REI (sporting goods co-op) has discount tickets to most of the ski areas, including Heavenly and Northstar for members.

Yes - there is frequent bus service from Sac to SLT. They are on Greyhound and other bus lines and are considered "gamblers' specials".. Very low fares and then part is rebated to you by the casinos.
