Sacramento to Red Bluff route
 
Is there any benefit to taking route 70 over I5 Sacramento to Red Bluff? It looks like the travel time is similar on each. Is 70 more scenic or are there any neat places to stop / see? It will be in July. Thx!

I think you mean California Route 99. It is about 5 miles shorter but you have to slow in a couple town including Chico.

Thanks. Google Maps calls it 70 /99 so I guess it's the same road. Is there anything to see on the way?

Not IF you mean just driving straight from Sacramento to Red Bluff. Just get there as fast as you can.

If you have ALL day- then you could meander up through the foothills/Sierra. Fabulous scenery, but that would take hours.

Take I-5. Hwy. 99 is notorious for serious traffic accidents. Mostly 2 lane.
