It may have been something about Canada?
Or canning peaches...or something like that...

I am SO sorry I missed the GTG (again) but I couldn't pass up the chance to crew on a sailboat with the lovely weather we've had. We actually sailed under the Richmond Bridge and considered how far we could get--but SAC is just a bit too far with these "short" days. Next time--I PROMISE!!! Sounds like a good time.

It was the San Rafael Bridge, I'm sure. Does that make you feel better, Kal?

Uh oh...not kidding about this... a friend of mine who might as well be a sister, wrote this note about yesterday:

Yesterday was Broadway Series......The Color Purple. It was fantastic!!! Had lunch by the water at Rio City Cafe and I almost cooked to death it was so hot (I foolishly wore a black sweater)!

My question to you - did any of you see a cute little brunette fitting this description? How should I describe you to ask her if she saw you???

Are you kiddin'? I saw TWO of her!
She have a tattoo?

A very cute little brunette was sitting behind us in a black sweater but had some tatts.

When I hear "San Rafael" I can still hear Dr. Don Rose yelling that in the morning.

Ha ha...you're such a brat. She's a dignified lady and would not have tattoos!

Dr. Don Rose...brings back memories. Did I ever tell you how I won his Big Mac contest? I called in for a contest he had. We had to name all of the ingredients for a Big Mac. What did I win? A Big Mac belt buckle. Just what every skinny blonde-haired girl needed.

LoveItaly--yes, I hope to meet all of you someday, too. You can still tell I'm originally a SoCal gal though,--I still say "THE" 680 or "THE" 880!

LOVED Dr Don.

He could not broadcast his show today in this PC environment.

I miss the man. One of my most treasured possessions is an autographed pic he sent me about 6-7 yrs ago.

He was a very kind and gentle person.

Gee, we called it the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. Guess we weren't taking any chances.

I remember that one photo - that's when Mrs. Kal suddenly had to go pee!

I'm totally blank on what I may have said...

Totally blank Toeds? A Bloody Mary perhaps, lol.

I had forgotten about Dr. Don Kal.

Well there is probably a lot I have forgotten but usually posts from Fodorites do remind me of good past times!

You all look great and the food looked delicious! I'm so jealous of the weather there! Love your coat, Janis.

Thanks yk. It is actually a very short jacket - bought on the advice of -- tada (!) Clinton Kelley (he is even better/funnier in person than on the show). He did a special event here in town and I got to talk to him at the meet and greet. It was actually a bit too warm to wear that day - who'd a thunk a light/short jacket would be too warm on the river in November??

This GTG was so much fun mostly because of the company but also because of the fabulous weather. It would have been fun even if it had rained and we had to sit inside. But -- out on the river, w/ the pirate ship, the bridge raising, all the pleasure boats etc - just too cool . . . .

Wow! Clinton Kelley! Have to think for a second who he is... as I haven't watched his show for some years now, plus I never knew his last name. You sure have met some interesting people... (including HM the Queen)
