Sacramento Dining ?
 

Looking for more information. This time we need recommendations for restaurants in or around Sacramento. Don't mind driving out a ways if we need to. Would like a restaurant (nothing requiring tie/sportscoat), that serves good food (variety), wine; nice, fun atmosphere. What do you recommend?

Lucca's (Nor. Italian-good wine list-Zuccnini chip appitizers), Huki Lau (yes, in Sacto, too) a bit of a Polynesian fare, Esquire Grill is a Mrs Kal fave, The Broiler, Chops, Moxie's (my fave but don't tell anyone about it), Jacks Urban Eats, Celestin's (best gumbos outside of the Fr Quarter!)...all are pretty casual and mostly downtown restaurants.
Waterboy and Biba's are good but a bit more dressy IMHO.

Where you staying? Roseville too far?
La Provence is nice but a bit $$$.

Lotta good places in Folsom too but Kal don't do Folsom.

Thanks for your suggestions Kal. We are staying in Sacramento. Wouldn't mind driving to Roseville.

Forgot to mention - trying to pack light, therefore the reason for no tie/sportcoat place. Anywhere that would accept dockers, nice shirt, dress slacks and nice top for me. Don't want "chain" unless there is something out there that is really outstanding that we don't know about.

If steak is your thing, there's a Morton's of Chicago downtown. We love Biba for Italian food--some of the best in the state--Paragary's for a variety.
Our in the north area at the Arden Fair Mall is California Café, and over near Fair Oaks Boulevard is the marvelous Lemon Grass (Thai). You might also like Frank Fats in Old Sacramento (Kai--is that the right name or am I using the one near Macy's?). Also in the downtown area is the Fourth Street Grill, which we like quite a lot.

La Provence in Roseville.

Still one of the best burgers and sports bar, very casual is Bunz and Co. a Lot of 49er and NFL stuff.

Ask for a Modesto Martini and if Jim or Julie are working they may ask if you know me.

Roseville Gourmet for decent chinese food.
We feel Carmelita's still puts out some good Mexican food.

And the other's are top secret!
