Hi Faina. How is the foot? If it's better you can walk to the Sacramento GTG instead of being strapped to the top of the car. (Hey, I have to make this travel related!!)

Paula, thank you, getting better.

Looking out the window, I think it will be a survivors' GTG. Rain and wind, and I'm afraid our windows will break!

Yes, I hear it's bad up there. It's heading our way and we will get it tonight and tomorrow. Don't think the storms are ever as bad in So. Cal but they keep saying this is a strong one. Are you back at work? If so, keep dry getting home if that's possible.

Hi all. DH had Lasik eye surgery today. I had to drive from El Dorado Hills to Roseville and back. Oh Baby, was it windy. Trees were down and lots of debris on the road.

We are up for a Sacramento GTG in Feb. We are gone the weekend of Feb. 15 (our 27th wedding anniversary) but any other weekend is good. Week day evening is also doable. Please pick a date soon so I can save the date.

Sounds like the beginning and end of the month are not great. How does Sat or Sun, Feb 9 or 10 work for everybody? Or maybe a weeknight between Feb 18 and 21?

An informal poll:

Sat Feb 9 lunch ___
Sat Feb 9 dinner ___
Sun Feb 10 lunch/brunch ___
Mon Feb 18 dinner ___ (this is Pres. Day)
Tues Feb 19 dinner ___
Wed Feb 20 dinner ___
Thurs Feb 21 dinner ___

Or any other suggestions?

Feb. 9, 10, 19, 20 or 21 is OK with us. If we HAD to choose a date/time, I guess it would be Feb. 10 for brunch/lunch.

I'm up for the GTG - someone has to drive the car Faina gets strapped to

Sat Feb 9 lunch - good
Sat Feb 9 dinner - good
Sun Feb 10 lunch/brunch - good

The weekdays are hard for me because I'll have just started a new job and won't have the flexibility with my schedule yet.

If my foot heals (still at home till 16th) I can make it on weekend, and the 9/10 weekend is better then the long weekend.

Saturday Feb 9th for lunch or dinner is good for me. Would prefer lunch. Sunday the 10th won't work. Can also do any of the weekdays you suggested.

I just heard from cobbie and the Feb 9/10 weekend works for her too. Looks like we may be narrowing things down a bit. Seems Sat Feb 9 may be our best choice - but the vote is still open.

I have a few favorites I'm checking, but does anyone have a special place to recommend?

We were thinking midtown or maybe Old Sac might be good being central to Elk Grove, El Dorado County, Roseville, Solano county and points west . . . . .

But anyplace could probably work.

Can I not come? I haven't chimed in because I'm still waiting to hear if my houseguest will be arriving that weekend.

I would love to join all of you for the GTG but in that I have a cataract problem I am not driving on the freeway until "my cataract" is ready for an operation. I live in Vacaville, so if someone is coming by on I-80 and wouldn't mind picking me up I would love to join all of you. I live off of I-80, about ten blocks from the freeway. But not to worry if it is not possible.

Can I go, too?

I usually visit the Europe forum but have started to check out the U.S. site and was delighted to see that so many Fodorites live in or near Sacramento.

Shanti, Shanghainese and LindaL - you are all most welcome to come...

LI - NO! You cannot come to the Sacramento GTG...

Sorry, I just couldn't resist with all these "can I come" posts.

I caanot check my schedule until I am home. Returning from Amsterdam tomorrow. I think I have a meeting in San Francisco one weekend in february but otherwise I am probably free. A further note to loveitaly: If you cannot drive because of your cataracts your cataracts are ready for surgery.

Hello mjs, I have an eye appointment with my opthamologist this April. During the appointment I had this last August it was to soon for the operation. I drive in my city but I am not driving on the freeway until after the operation which hopefully will solve the problem.

Well Toeds, I never!!! Hope you are dried out. That was quite a storm wasn't it. Take care.

Things seem to be drying out nicely. I was just glad I wasn't working the new job and taking the bus on Friday.

It looks like Saturday lunch Feb 9 might work for most people. Sound good??

The Kals won't be back from HI until (I think) next week so can't be sure about them. But what the hey - if they aren't there we can talk about them

Let's get some firm-ish numbers and then we can kick around some possible locations . . . . .

Linda, thank you, this would be great if you can pick me up! Just don't twist my arm

Janis, don't worry, I can talk about the Kals with the Kals
