SA Riverwalk -- Best Mexican Food?

Hello, My family and I will be in San Antonio this weekend. We are staying on the Riverwalk. I was wondering which restaurant you recommend for great mexican food? Thanks in advance for your help!

I would not recommend any of the restaurants on the Riverwalk for good Mexican food. I personally recommend El Jarro's which is at 281 and Bitters. Others have other recommendations (do a search on San Antonio -- there have been several posts recently) but none on the Riverwalk.

I actually wouldn't really recommend any of the Mexican restaurants downtown -- too touristy and food is adequate at best.

My personal favorite for Tex-Mex and margaritas is Tomatillo's on Broadway (near downtown) or Las Palapas (on I-10 between Camp Bullis and Boerne) for authentic Mexican.

I think it's Casa Rio on the riverwalk that makes the guacamole at your table. That one is pretty good, but I agree that the best Mexican places in San Antone are not on the riverwalk.

For mexican food on the riverwalk I would go to either Rio Rio or Casa Rio.

I was in Casa Rio a couple of months ago and enjoyed the meal and we occasionally drive downtown for a "tourist" Saturday or Sunday afternoon and eat at Rio Rio.

Have fun!

Rio Rio is definitely touristy, but is a good bet. Beautiful scenery and great people-watching, too.
