I would just stay on I-90. It’s a 4.5 hour drive. The Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman is great for dinosaurs, especially the t-Rex.

Lewis & Clark Caverns between Bozeman and Butte is a great stop. Three hour tour through a very decorated cavern.

then you can cut up to Helena on highway 69.

Hawthorn, Lucca’s, Big Dipper, and Blackfoot Brewing our are favorite stops in Helena.

Missoula: Plonk’s patio for drinks, Biga Pizza, Montgomery Distillery, Saketome, Scotty’s Table or Cafe Dolce for brunch, Big Dipper, watching the surfers on Brennan’s wave. Catalyst is also great for brunch. Tagliare has the best take away sandwiches. Wordens Market and the Good Food Store for groceries. Orange Street Food Farm has best grocery prices on craft beer.
