RV Trip

We are heading out of Denver on Friday with an RV for the week any good suggestions? I have gone over the state camp sites and see plenty looking at first night in Vail to pick up kids then just go!!!

I generally prefer the national parks, but they usually don't have showers or hookups. Some do some don't.
Great Sand Dunes
Mesa Verde/Durango
Rocky Mountain National Park
Black Canyon of the Gunnison
Just depends on what you want to see and do. Some people prefer fishing, etc. Plenty of that too. Might check out Maroon Bells area.

Aw, c'mon Brentley. You have posted on at LEAST two other threads talking about RV'ing and how good it is. It has all been today.
It is really hard for me to think you just rented your RV today and you have NO idea of what/where you are going.
Lest anyone think I am totally off for RVing, our very cute neice and her family DID rent an RV IN Denver and took a two week trip through the west, which was wonderful.
I am just not so sure about our Brentley guy. Just TOO disingenuous.
BUT just to humour the guy, there is a nice campground just north of Silverthorne on Route 7 (I think--toward Kremmerling), right on the Blue River.
I will look forward with great skepticism and also excitement for whatever he says "happens".

Gretchen I am being honest with you this Friday will be the first time I have rented or even driven an RV. Yes I did make two posts but that is because I have been doing a ton of research last month or so and we are finally able to take advantage of trip!!! We have some great ideas of what we want to do but if you want great info you ask the locals or those who have experienced it!! SO HUMOUR ME what are you the forum police?? I see you all over the place BTW I just joined this forum today! I will give you an update when we get back...

Brently160 Jul 17th, 2013 07:59 PM

Gretchen to add to your comment about my comments on RV'ing I only made suggestions to that Aussie gal go back and read the posts. She wants suggestions much like you freely give all over the place..

Then I will tell you there is a nice camp ground just north of Silverthorne maybe 8 miles on the Blue River. No hook up as it is a state ground but a beautiful spot.

There is a huge difference between research and experience. Anyone can do research but not everyone has experience. Experience by far is the greatest advice. I, too, thought you were posting from experience when you were recommending an RV. But it might be more ethical to let people know that you have no real RV experience when recommending an RV option.

Brently160 Jul 18th, 2013 07:48 AM

fmpden not really tracking your comment on about being "ethical"?? If you could read and comprehend what I wrote then you would be able to understand that what I said were just suggestions or comments that the person was asking for and I made those suggestions/comments from my research. The info I put out there was no different than what thousands of others state, it’s just suggestions or comments. IT’S up to the individual to do their due diligence to make the right decision. Does not take "RVing" experience to make suggestions or options!!! Our current administration has no experience but look where we are now!!

rent and watch the movie RV with robin Williams.

I still look forward to the experience vs. the research!!

Hello all, I forgot about following up on this about a trip report. We had a fantastic time flew into Denver went to a local RV dealer and got the RV a brand new 33' Leprechaun we were the first to use it. Took off for Costco stocked up and headed up to Vail to get two of our boys and then for the hills. This was our first experience in an RV and it was fantastic, camped out each night by either a stream, river or lake, we were so far out that most of the time the phones did not work and that was just fine by us. I recommend for anyone thinking about this to go ahead and get a rental to try out your hand at RV'ing. It was very easy to drive just need to be cautious on the turns. So there I now have some experience lol..

What was the name of the RV Dealership? I might wanna try this sometime.

Brently,

Glad you had a good experience.

If you decide to try RVing again check out these RV specific websites which have travel forums (among other types of RV stuff) similar to these. We have been RVing for only 3 years and have found the people at these sites to be great help. Friendly, too.
