Rv in new england for fall???
Could anyone with knowledge of the area PLEASE give an opinion on whether an rv is suitable for new england in fall??? (Am getting conflicting advice on rental rv or rental car as to suitability). Had rv in Canada in July/August and loved it. HELP!

great way to see new england. plenty of KOA in the area, also very nice private campsites with water and electric hookup. I would try it since it is so expensive to rent a room and of course very hard to find rooms during the leaf season.

Hi Jane,<BR><BR>I think an RV will be suitable. Depending on where you are going there may be some smaller roads or steeper roads that could be a problem for you, but otherwise you should be fine.<BR><BR>It will be much easier finding campgrounds to stop at with hook-ups, rather than trying to find hotel rooms to stay at. <BR><BR>My wife and I are renting a Volkswagen Westfalia camper (much smaller than an RV, but plenty of sleeping room, kitchen, etc..) for a weekend in Vermont this Autumn and plan on having a great time. Enjoy!

"It will be much easier finding campgrounds to stop at with hook-ups, rather than trying to find hotel rooms to stay at."<BR><BR>This is not necessarily true. Some campgrounds take reservations and will be booked up. Those that do not take reservations fill up early. <BR><BR>We've often run into folks looking for available campground spaces and unable to find them.<BR><BR>If you do go with an RV, be sure to have a topographical map and know where the gas stations are located.

Thank you Max. I should have clarified that statement. I have not found one campground yet (in Vermont) that did not have plenty of sites available for the first weekend in October. I was referring to reserving a place now. I'm sure as Autumn approaches they will fill up.

Eric,<BR>Thankyou (and everyone else) so much. Could you tell me where you rented the 'volkswagon campervan' from? We would prefer that to an rv.<BR>regards,<BR>jane

Of course there are lifestyle issues, but when we compared renting an RV to renting a car and a cheap hotel room each night, the hotel room option was much cheaper. Even if you factor in meals. The mileage charges on some of these rentals could kill you. However, I might guess that rates are cheaper in fall.
