RV Driving Requirement

Hi all,

I've got a New Zealand drivers license and my girlfriend has an international license. We're looking at doing some RV transfer cars and was wondering what the license requirements were in USA?

We'll be in California, Arizona and Nevada

>>my girlfriend has an international license. <<

There is no such thing. An IDP (International Drivers Permit) is merely in support of one's regular license (it is a translation which you won't need if your license is in English)

What do you mean by "RV transfer cars"?

I think they may be talking about this:

What is RV transfer car? I would also check with place you are renting the vehicle - while individual states may have slightly different driving laws (yes - 50 laws in the same country!) the rental company may have their own restrictions.

And while you did not ask, check prices very carefully - including taxes, insurance and add-ons. While renting an RV is partly a vacation-style choice, almost always renting a car and staying in hotels is less expensive.

Sorry, yea I was talking about https://www.transfercarus.com/

I thought that renting a car and staying in hotels would be the cheaper option.

I'll need to do some more researching. Thanks

I'd go with the rental car and motels. If that outfit operates anything like Autodriveaway, you have to drive x amount of hours per day (usually 7 or 8) which does not leave you much time at all for sightseeing. Their objective is to transport vehicles in a quick manner, not provide a low cost vacation to visitors.

I wold think the number of RVs being transferred is limited. And for a company to trust you with one you would both have to meet age and driving record requirements and might well have to make a deposit covering the deductible on the vehicle. Also, these are NOT easy to handle on mountain roads.

Renting a car and staying in motels will be much cheaper and easier.
