Taking a girls trip to the area and would like to see the Broadmoor. We thought about having dinner there, but wondered about the restaurants. We don't want super fancy and won't be dressing up. Just wondered if any of them have really good food and atmosphere without being stuffy?

If we don't eat at the hotel, does anyone have any suggestions for somewhere else unique and delicious in the city? The top rated places on Tripadvisor didn't really move me. Not into sushi or wild game, and need something besides Mediterranean, since we are having that in Manitou Springs, where we are staying.

Anyone have favorites we might try?

I don't think the Broadmoor would be too stuffy. Most places in Colorado are relatively casual, and most people aren't stuck up.

Have you eaten at any of the Broadmoor restaurants? I know we don't want the really high-dollar one. Also, do you have any suggestions for a self-guided tour of the hotel?

Not sure what you're looking for, but my Dad and my then 16 year old daughter loved this place:

Standard pub fare, but they had a piano player. They distributed song books, took requests, and encouraged singing along. It was a kick in the pants to see a table full of college-aged young men belting out "Sweet Caroline." However, it has recently gotten some less than stellar reviews on TripAdvisor~you might ask some the hotel staff if they have an opinion.

Funny, I was attracted to that name, Golden Bee, when I was looking at the hotel website. We will definitely check that out, even just for a drink on Saturday night.

Sorry, jayne, I have not eaten there in many years. But friends do, and I've never heard of any issues there. The Broadmoor is known for its service, and making its guests feel comfortable, so I doubt if you'd feel out of place anywhere there. Unless you did something insane on their golf course! haha. That would not be acceptable!

Haha, for me to even step foot on a golf course would probably be insane! We will just stop and see what feels right. I have just always wanted to see the Broadmoor.

Marigold off Centennial and Garden of the Gods Road is excellent! Worth the drive from the Broadmoor ( ~15 min). We usually had drinks at the Golden Bee then to Marigold for an excellent dinner. Have fun
