Running away from home - Las Vegas Restaurants
 

Background: I am turning 60 in May and for my birthday I am meeting my sister in LV and leaving husbands at home. My husband and I go 2-3 times a year, but it's my sister's first time. One night we want to do a birthday dinner and I've been looking at Circo at the Bellagio, but have seen very mixed reviews and some of them are very old. Has anyone gone recently who could report? We don't want to have to dress up more than dressy casual or casual business and want to spend in the $50-$75 per person range. Is this feasible here or do you have other suggestions? If you are interested in venturing off the Strip then I highly suggest Rosemary's. I took my mom for her 60th birthday last November and she LOVED it!!! Dressy Casual is fine, it is a nice intimate restaurant, the owners are husband an wife and the husband was once excutive chef to Emeril in NO. I had the salmon, mom had Mahi Mahi and my DH had the filet of beef, all of us enjoyed it very much. In fact, my friend's mother in law is coming into town tonight and her birthday is this weekend and they are taking her there...truely a special place to take someone very special!! If interested, it is on W. Sahara near the Summerlin area.

I have had SO many birthday dinners at Circo and a couple of anniversaries too. Never had a bad night there.
My daughter will be celebrating her own there in May :D

You see all sorts of outfits in LV and dressy casual will do, most men wear jackets, ladies wear nicer outfits..I always wear black lol.
As to the price, Circo is expensive, I don't know if that would work.
There is a lovely place in the Venetian called Pinot Brasserie..great food, better prices than Circo.
And at the Paris Hotel is Mon Ami Gabi, where you can have dinner and still watch the Fountains at Bellagio for a lot less than Circo :)

Scarlett, are you talking about Circo or Le Cirque? We didn't find Circo particularly expensive (and less than Pinot Brasserie at the Venetian). We also found it less than inspirational. But we never did Le Cirque. Now that's expensive.

Circo..not as expensive as Le Cirque but more , I think , than $50-75 per person.
You thought Pinot Brasserie was more expensive??
I checked with the Yankee ( who remembers numbers better than I) and he said Pinot Brasserie was not as expensive for us. And we always have the app, main course, dessert and drinks. oink lol.

I've been to Pinot Brasserie several times. Last I remember, the 3 or 4 course tasting menu was $65pp, so I think it fits the price range. You could always go a la carte and eat cheaper. I would, however recommend going on a slow night, last time we went on a Fri or Sat and you could tell the kitchen couldn't handle it, food and service were mediocre at best whereas other times it's been great.

You may also want to consider Olives at Bellagio. I've never eaten there but friends I trust really like it and go back every time.

Gabi, good also for classic French. Similar price range, try to get outdoor seating if it's not too hot.

Olives has renovated since we were there, I think..I always loved lunch out on the terrace. Dinner is always noisy and hectic but if you might not mind..either way, I agree with the Olives reco.
For drinks at twilight and a fantastic view, go to the Rio hotel to the Voodoo Lounge. Top of the hotel ( 60 something floors) and have a cocktail or wine and watch the sunset over the entire valley, all of LV and beyond..my favorite sight in LV :)

I recently had a great meal at Le Cirque. I posted about it here. It was expensive but wonderful. Maybe do a search?

We just ate at Circo's the end of March. Had a good meal - good view of the fountains (although as you cannot hear the music inside, it lacks something). Menu in my opinion, nothing spectacular.

You may want to consider viewing the fountains outside (to enjoy the music) and eating elsewhere.

We had a great steak dinner at Blackstone's in Monte Carlo. Also, there are some fantastic new restaurants in the new Wynn LV hotel.

We went dressed classy casual most places.

I liked Mon Ami Gabi at Paris also, and I think you'll be under budget. I'd call it classy/ dressy casual.
