Royal Hawaiian Luau

Has anyone been to this luau? Is it worth it? How much is it normally, and what does it include? Thanks for any help and if anyone knows a better one, feel free to suggest that too. Again, thanks.

Are you refering to the one that's at the Royal Hawaiian hotel in Waikiki on Mondays? If so, I would like to hear from anyone that's been to this luau too. It's normally $81 but there's a 20% off coupon on the Royal Hawaiian hotel's website. I'm looking for a luau on Oahu that's not huge (like Paradise Cove or PCC). Will this fit the bill??? Thanks.

It is one of the nicer ones on Oahu, but still a bit commercial. If you go to Maui, try the Old Lahaina luau. Very authentic and great time.

Thanks for your reply Ed! I actually would prefer not to go to a luau at all but we're taking my in-laws this trip and I know they really want to do this. We are only staying on Oahu so won't have a chance to try Old Lahaina. I'm hoping the Royal Hawaiian luau is not too terribly commercial. Were you there recently? Thanks, again.

Went last year. It is OK but the seating is first come first seated. You need to get there about 45 minutes early to get a decent seat.

Food was OK, Drinks weak. You could sit at the bar and see the show and have better food and drinks.

Jeff, thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep that in mind if we do end up going to this luau. Do you know what their seating capacity is? I've heard some of the larger luau's actually seat several thousand people!!

Well, I was the one who posted this, then in December I went to the luau. It was fun and not too big, though certainly not small. The entertainers were good and the food good too. Could leave the poi though.
One poster said that you could do just as well by sitting at the bar and watching the show. I'm afraid he's right. The luau is fun, don't get me wrong. But $160 is a lot of mai tais at the Mai Tai bar.
