Rosie O'Grady's NYC
How is Rosie O'Grady's? I thought about eating there before going to a broadway show. Should I expect to spend around $60-80 for 2? Should I make reservations? I read some good reviews on the menu pages website. It looked pretty good. Suggestions please. Thanks!

It is good, not great, but fine for a quick dinner. Very busy place (lots of tourists like you and me), but we have had good service the 2 times we've gone there. They will get you in and out in time for your show. I'd go there again because it is convenient to where we stay (the Sheratons or the Michaelangelo) and on the way to the theaters we walk to.

It's a place the locals don't visit too much but it has a nice atmosphere and decent food. It is a happy place. I would go before a show for sure because the show is the main event and getting there on time is important. A reservation won't hurt but you might be OK without it depending on the day of the week and when you arrive. It's a pretty big place.
I think $60-$80 for 2 is reasonable depending on the number of courses and drinks... |
Food is just OK - but for a quick bite before a show isn't bad. Just realize that it's only the basics and will be packed with other tourists.

I guess I wonder what about this place has attracted you? As emd says, it's mostly a tourist place and there are dozens of other options that seem more interesting or unusual. This place always strikes me of "anywhere USA." And Thalia and many others have prix fixe menus for $25-25/person.
In a previous one of your posts, I mentioned Thalia. For something casual, the Art Cafe is good. |
I just noticed a lot of good reviews on the menu pages website. I will look at Thalia. Thanks! Maybe I will choose somewhere else since the enthusiasm on here isn't the same as on the other website.
