Roomsavers.com

Has anyone used the coupons from roomsavers.com for a motel/hotel? I'm just wondering if they're legit.

BIG FRAUDS! No, I don't know if they're fraudulent, but I had big time trouble with them. In the end, they made good, but it was a royal pain in the axx.

I've seen the sight but I'm confused by it. How does it work? You just print the coupon and the hotel gives you the discount? Sam - what was your experience?

The deal is supposed to be Walk-up only. You walk up to a motel and if they have vacancies that night, you get the coupon rate. No reservations accepted for these rates.

However, many times you can call the location a few days ahead and ask them if they'll accept the coupon on such-and-such a night. Most places that are not nearly full will gladly take your reservation and tell you that you can use the coupon.

I wouldn't call it a "fraud", but it is not very convenient to walk up to a motel with a $50 coupon, and have the clerk tell you "those rooms are sold out but we have some $70 rooms open". That happens quite a bit with these last-minute coupons.

I used RoomSaver.com for this past holiday weekend and saved some $$$.

I did a little planning... figured where I would be staying.

I printed all of the roomsaver coupons for the destination. Saved $5 to 10+ per night.
I've used both the coupons and the booklets available along the interstates. I also have saved a bundle. Some places have accepted phone reservations, most will not. The coupons will not be honored on nights the hotel expects to fill, but I've had hotels that told me on Saturday that they would honor them on Sunday, so I've paid a little more than I wanted to in order to secure the Sunday+ price and location.
