Ronald Reagan Library, nearby must sees?

We are thinking about heading up there on Monday on the way to see oldest daughter at UCSB. Any info about the area? Tips on where to eat, which don't miss exhibits to see. Any neat shops, stops nearby? Thanks.

Definitely worth a visit. We enjoyed the library very much (we're big RR fans). We stayed over, like most of CA, lots of strip malls with the usual fare...we did eat in a restaurant in one of the strip malls, near the Hyatt we were staying in. It was very good, but cannot remember the name. Sorry.

any idea on how long it might take to get through the museum? Half a day sound reasonable?

A half day is fine, it's not that big. I think we spend around four hours there.

half a day is fine.

Drive over the mountains to Malibu - very scenic, twisty road.

The new exhibit with "Air Force One" was opened by Nancy Reagan and President and Mrs. Bush today and will be open to the public on Monday so it might be a bit busier than usual on Monday. Should be interesting tho.

The Hyatt is in Westlake Village. There are many good restaurants to eat at in Westlake and Thousand Oaks and it is a 15 minute drive to the library in Simi:
Boccaccios at the Lake
Tuscany
Fins
Mandevilla
Piatti
P F Changs

There is also a new Simi Mall that will open later this week.

Hi Heavens!

You will love Reagan's Museum! Yes, 1/2 day should do it, not including Air Force One. How nice you'll get to see that, also. We had hoped to return to the library on our road trip this past july, as its definitely our favorite, but we ran out of time. Their Marie Callender Cafe (new to us at the time) was great for a quick bite.

If we'd had time for another visit, this is also what i'd planned(thanks to mommar mpf and enjoylife) ~

Corriganville Park in Simi Valley, a popular setting for old cowboy movies and a good place for a picnic (weather permitting).

The Nethercutt Collection (museum)in Sylmar, includes 'beautifully restored classic antique cars, tremendous pipe organ and hundreds of other misc. items."

Paradise Bakery, also in sylmar, is home of some of the incredible cookies made for Trader Joes. :)

Have a great trip!
