Rome Under Wraps

If you're planning a trip to Rome in the near future, plan on buying postcards of the Spanish Steps, Vittoriano, Bernini's Fountain of the Four Rivers (and the smaller fountain in Piazza Navona) and other sites because you won't be able to photograph them in their entirety due to construction covering them!! Construction cranes and scaffolding are all over Rome.
The only thing impeding the view at the Trevi are all the tourists (we were 2 of them 2 days ago). The weather was great and our trip was satisfactory, but the above-mentioned items were disappointing.

You probably meant to post this on the Europe board. The scaffolding on the Four Rivers fountain has been there for well over a year or more. Like you I was disappointed by that when we were there in April. At least I knew about it in advance, so it was expected.

That's the problem with all that danged old stuff in Europe! LOL.

I know what you mean, though. We were in Vienna a few years ago and were disappointed the Stephansdom was partly shrouded. I think I heard, though, that they are always cleaning some part of that lovely old building.
