rome, florence and venice

my husband and i are traveling in august to italy. i know august is not ideal, but it works for us. we are fortunate to have a guide for 3-4 hrs. a day. what is the best time of day for seeing the sights, we must let him know in advance. we prefer to eat at small neighborhood restaurants and would love some suggestions. i read your forums all the time and i,m so excited but must admit a little anxious. thank you all in advance for tour assistance

Wow we too went to rome, florence and Venice in Aug of last year--are you on a cruise, just curious, cuz that is how we ended up there too. We too had a private driver in each city, so the reason I am asking if you are on a cruise is cuz some of the docking places are actually an hour or two away from the actual cities.

I do not think a guide for 3-4 hrs a day is enough, so I guess I need some more info from you to help you

You've posted this on the wrong forum.
I'm puzzled by your question about the best time of day for seeing the sights. Shouldn't your guide know the answer to that question?

we are not cruising, flying into rome and home from venice. taking the train in between. we are taking a private tour guide for4 hrs. a day, we like to sleep in alittle and do not want to be on such a rigid schedule since home life is so scheduled. i was hoping someone could give us thoughts on time of day that crowds might be diminished. thanks again

I'm sure someone could. But, as Howard pointed out, you've posted this on the US forum. Try the Europe forum and you'll likely get more answers.

My bad - I looked to see if you had posted this over there before I replied, but didn't see your post then. Then, of course, I saw it right after I replied. Sorry! :)
