Romatic Locations in San Francisco in May?

Planning to Honeymoon in SF in early May. Any ideas on B&B's, dining destinations, or vineyards to visit? Thanks in advance!

You'll enjoy your stay. May is a delightful month to visit. Rain is unlikely, but possible. A couple of restaurants to consider include Postrio, Wolfgang Puck's SF restaurant on Post Street; Rose Pistola on Columbus Street, Zax, an intimate place on Taylor Street. Baker Street Bistro on Baker Street (naturally) is another idea. Wineries to visit include St. Suprey Winery, which has a self-guided tour, Robert Mondavi, which has an extensive guided tour. Highways 29 and 12 feature most of the region's wineries. I enjoyed the Mustards Grill restaurant at 7399 Highway 29, near Yountville. Enjoy your trip!

Jen:
You picked a great honeymoon area! If time allows, try to spend a day or to in the Carmel/Monterey area. It is breathtaking and sooooo romantic. We were there with the kids, but it's one area we plan to return to A L O N E. The Tickle Pink Inn I hear is a great honeymoon spot. We stayed at the Monterey Plaza Hotel. It was very nice, but there are certainly more intimate inns in that area. San Francisco has some wonderful bed & breakfasts. The most important thing is location, how close to cable cars, buses, etc. you want to be. A couple we met were staying at The Petite Auberge and they said it was very nice. It’s centrally located (near Union Square) and you wouldn’t need a car. There are quite a few good websites for San Francisco accommodations, just do a search on San Francisco Bed & Breakfasts and you’ll get all the info you need. When you find something you like post to Fodor’s and see if anyone has more personal info, that’s what we did and we found the perfect place for our needs. P.S.-Listen to Scott, his suggestions are right on the money. Whatever you decide have wonderful time!!!!!

A great place to stay in SF: The Archbishop's Mansion, an inn that used to be (you guessed it) the archbishop's mansion. (Not to be confused with a B&B called "The Mansions," which is a dump). Archbishop's is in a residentail area a few minutes'drive away from Civic Center area - every room is different, it's very quiet, some rooms have whirlpools and/or fireplaces. Breakfast included.
For dinner, try "Stars" which is pretty expensive, or the bistro attached to Stars called "J.T.'s" which is a little less expensive but just as good. In Napa Valley, you can have a great lunch at L'Auberge de Soleil - get a table on the deck overlooking the valley. Going south, a few miles beyond Carmel is The Highlands Inn and its restaurant, The Pacific's Edge - outstanding, and a view you won't forget.
Closer to SF is Sausalito, just across the bay - there are a couple of restaurants on the waterfront - the names escape me but one in particular has views acorss the bay to the city - and the town has a lot of art galleries and other interesting shops.
If you're there on a weekend, and the weather is clear, get up early and walk across the Golden Gate Bridge and back. You'll love the vistas from the bridge deck. There's a parking lot on the city side and it's an easy walk.
The restaurants and the Archbishop's Mansion should be listed in most SF guides.
The weather should be pretty good - it's only Summer and Winter that are hard to take in SF. Bon Voyage!

Jen: Here are some memorable eateries in SF:

Fior d'Italia in North Beach. Faces Washington Square and has incredible pasta; eggplant parmesan is to die for.

Garden Court at Sheraton Palace Hotel. Beautiful decor and excellent food.

Roxanne Cafe, Bush and Powell Streets. Grab a table by the window, have a glass of wine and watch the cable cars go by.

Take in a floor show at the Plush Room in the York Hotel on Sutter Street.

Tony Bennett was right.
