Romantic weekend in Baltimore
 

Where to stay, what to do? Going for our 1 year anniversary. <BR>Thanks!

Romance and Baltimore don't go hand in hand in my mind. I've just never warmed up to that city. I'd suggest thinking about a weekend in Annapolis instead. Charming town with good restaurants, quaint b&b's and a relaxing atmosphere.

On the otherhand, how about staying at the Baltimore Hyatt on Light Street, by the water, and using boats to get around the harbor area. Terrific fun. And think about the neighborhood in Federal Hill for quiet lunches or dinners. Ciao

Hi <BR> <BR>I would recommend going to Fell's Point, Federal Hill, Little Italy and Mount Vernon if you want romance in Baltimore. Some god restaurants in Mt. Vernon are the Brass Elephant (pricey), the Helmand (Afghan, reasonable) and Ixia. I've heard that Banjara is a good Indian restaurant in Federal Hill. <BR> <BR>I also pasted an (ignored) old post of mine with two more suggestions. :) <BR> <BR>"Recently I found two more things to love about Baltimore. <BR> <BR>ROMANTIC RESTAURANT: Kawasaki, a Japanese restaurant in Fell's Point on S. Ann St. just below Thames. While my sushi rolls were unexceptional, my friends' yakisoba and chicken teriyaki were out of this world. The prices were reasonable ($10/dish). But what really MADE this restaurant was the view of the Fell's Point harbor from the outdoor seating...simply lovely. <BR> <BR>CHARLES THEATER. About 2 blocks north of Baltimore's Penn Station on Charles St., this grande old dame was such a <BR> delightful surprise. Elegant dining with option of outdoor parasoled seating at ambience-filled Tapas de Teatro was buzzing with stylish patrons. Charles Theater gets high-quality independent and foreign movies that probably won't make your typical Multiplex. These days with my attitude being "why go to the cinema when you can wait for it on video?", the Charles Theater has the appeal of "an evening out" with great people-watching at Tapas de Teatro. <BR> <BR>Both are great places for those visiting Baltimore to take a date." <BR> <BR> DAN <BR> <BR> <BR>

If you like art, go to the Baltimore Museum of Art up Charles Street to see the newly reopened and expanded Cone collection - the two sisters who collected most of Matisse and others of his period. Romance is where you find it!

Balto can be as romantic as any other city -- picturesque harbor, tons of historic sites, ethnic neighborhoods that retain their distinctive characteristics, fine museums, theater, even Camden Yards (Orioles stadium) is charming and fun. There are many fine hotels in the harbor area and a wide variety of good restaurants. We like Boccacio in Little Italy. Besides fine food, it is romantic in an understatedly elegant way. For authentic local seafood, go to Obrycki's in the Ukranian neighborhood. The Brass Elephant has an astounding Tiffany stained glass skylight and the train station is noted for its huge, oval stained glass ceiling. Go! Enjoy.
