romantic three days near LA

I am looking for something romantic to do in the LA area (but not in LA proper) with my fiancee for a three day weekend. Maybe a cute B&B someplace on the ocean. Any suggestions would be great!

I don't know specific places, but Santa Barbara is great--about 90 miles north of LA. Very romantic.

Laguna Beach is absolutely beautiful! We stayed at a place called Casa Arabella - cute little suites (more of an apartment) with a quaint courtyard. Reasonable prices and lots of fun galleries, restaurants nearby.
It's about an hour from LA depending on traffic, could be a little less.

Santa Barbara also offers a similar feel, but has an older crowd. When are you going?

Good luck.

Santa BArbara can be cold in January. I would head south of LA. Laguana Beach would be my favorite choice.

Neworleanslaura:
Try the Bath Street Inn in Santa Barbara. Small B&B, delicious food, beautiful neighborhood to take walks, friendliest white lab ever nesting on the porch, and a doll's house look to the rooms (this doesn't mean small) It's not on the ocean, but you can walk to the town.
We loved it there too. But Carbogilligan's advice about the weather is something to keep in mind.

There are some places on the beach in Malibu. One nice place that I know of is the Malibu Inn. Right on the beach, overlooking the Ocean, fire places in the room, ocean noise in the background all night long, if that doesn't bother you. I have not stayed there, but have seen the rooms & think it might be a possiblity for you. Then at Gladstone's restaurant, one of my brother's took my mom there for her birthday & doing this with advance notice, her name was put on the menu for that evening with alittle bit of extra attention.

Oh yes, yes, yes. Try The Beach House (just gorgeous little hotel on the boardwalk) in Hermosa Beach about half hour south of LA. Quiet, clean, beautiful. True surfer area. I don't have a lik for the Beach House off hand but thier spa will hook you up proper. Enjoy!

The website for the Beach House is:

Nice place indeed. You'll find Hermosa a fairly lively place, in a laid-back way. Good beach, cool people, a place I enjoy visiting. I love Laguna Beach too, and it's quite a bit calmer than Hermosa. Depends on what you're looking for.

The Blue Lantern Inn in Dana Point is really nice - AAA 4 stars, fireplaces in rooms, big whirlpool tubs in the bath, and wonderful views overlooking the ocean, a great breakfast included. The rooms are a bargain compared to other comparable hotels in the area.
