Romantic Spots In Maine?

We are planning on spending a week in Maine this summer. I would like to spend a few days in Bar Harbor but would like to find at least one other romantic town or region to stay at during our stay. Is Camden worth a few days? Suggestions on romantic inns and b&bs also welcome.

Thanks!

Mike

A search of this site on "Maine" will yield lots of suggestions. One I've made myself is Pemaquid Point and the Bradley Inn. I think they have a website.

Camden is a wonderful town and there are lots of romantic inns there, plus good restaurants and decent shopping as well. You are going to have a great time in Bar Harbor. The most romantic thing there is watching the sunset from the top of Mt. Cadillac -- it's glorious!
I do know of one romantic inn that I can recommend, but it's not in Bar Harbor or Camden, it's just outside of Boothbay Harbor. Boothbay Harbor is, in my opinion, not as great as Bar Harbor or Camden, but the inn itself is lovely, in a quiet location outside of town, on the water, with a really nice dining room and good service and very good food. The website is www.lawnmeerinn.com

It's been seven years since we spent a week in Maine, but I do remember it was wonderful. We drove along the coast and stayed in B&B's in Camden, Boothbay Harbor and Bar Harbor. Camden was picturesque and definitely worth a few days. I don't remember the name of the B&B (I think it was for sale when we were there)We also loved Boothbay and stayed at the Welch House Inn which was very nice with fantastic view's of the harbor but Bar Harbor was by far our favorite. Acadia national was fabulous. You're going to love it!

If you go to Portland, consider the Pomegranate Inn. Gloriously beautiful. It's in town, of course, so the view is primarily on the inside!! They have a website under the Inn's name.

My wife and I have found the small harbor in Camden to be very romantic. It is a picture postcard setting. We have never been treated any where else as well as we have been in our stays at the Maine Stay Inn. (www.mainestay.com) You can check out Camden at www.ligature.com.
