How could I forget Provence! Great place located on MacDougal Street in the Village. Great French cuisine.

While not on your agenda, it has without a doubt, the best Bastille Day party in NY.

Recently ate at Provence. Loved it! Will definately return. Exceptionally romantic garden room, excellent food and a fine wine list without breaking the bank.

Cafe des Artistes!

My husband and I go here for our anniversary every year. We went the first year not expecting to make a tradition of it, but they were so good to us we would not dream of going elsewhere now. We had not mentioned it was our anniversary and they seated us at a table very close to other diners. When our waiter asked if we wanted dessert I told him no, we had wedding cake to eat at home. I thought the poor man was going to faint. He was horrified that he didn't know. He brought the maitre d' over and everyone gushed over us. We were very flattered.

The next year we decided to see what happens when you tell them it's your anniversary dinner. My heavens, what a treat! They congratulated us on our anniversary when we arrived and seated us at a lovely table, set apart from others. They put candles on our dessert. We were treated like royalty and so it has been every year since. I love this place. The food is great, the decor is gorgeous and intimate and the service is wonderful.

Hi-

I'm curious abut "Provence"; my wife and I honeymooned on the Riviera/Provence area and I was wondering if the cuisine was indeed based on that of the South of France. Also, what price range would we be talking for Provence? Thanks...

Provence does focus on provencal style french cooking, but the menu is diverse. It is a very pretty and relaxing restaurant and moderate in price. There is a nice fountain in the back indoor garden. I've always enjoyed the food I've had there.

I would go for Babbo or March over Cafe des Artistes and Tavern.
