romantic oregon coast - for 2, no kids
hi discussion board-ers!
my wife and i are planning a getaway to the oregon coast in mid-july, and are interested in finding a quaint, relaxed northern coastal town for a few days. it will just be the two of us, so we would prefer to steer clear of towns that specialize in kid-friendly, "family-oriented" attractions - just a romantic, peaceful time to chill out, have some nice meals, walk the coast, and relax. suggestions? i've got my oregon map and have spent hours online and still am confused as to which towns might offer this. thanks for any and all suggestions - good and bad! |

Yachats is it. Northern is too crowded to be romantic.
We spent our honeymoon in Yachats in 1990- leaving Ashland after our reception and driving North along the Coast til we found the place that made us slam on the Brakes. You never have to get in your car, if that's what you want. http://www.yachats.org |
I agree Yachats is great- look into the Overleaf Lodge - nice rooms on the beach- in the summer they build a fire on the beach and you can sit around the fire and hear the waves roll in.
also a vote for the Channel House at Depoe Bay - some of the rooms have hot tubs on the deck overlooking the ocean http://www.channelhouse.com/ Another nice place would the Cannery Pier Hotel in Astoria http://www.cannerypierhotel.com/ Have fun |
We are on the northern Oregon Coast right now, it's a very pretty place to spend time. Cannon Beach would be a nice place to relax, we were there yesterday at Indian Beach, then enjoyed walking around the town. :)
The Cannery Pier Hotel is a very nice place also, in Astoria. We had a nice dinner at Ship Inn a couple of nights ago and enjoyed riding the riverfront trolley there, they were doing conductor training and we rode along with them. Astoria offers much in the way of history and culture, also. Enjoy your trip! ***kim*** ((f)) |
