Romantic ideas for a weekend trip 2 hours from PA

Hubby and I want to go away for a romantic weekend that will take 1-2 hours driving time from Philadelphia.

Any ideas?

Drive north to New Hope/Lambertville area. Many lovely B&B's and a quaint town filled with antique shops and cozy restaurants.

How about a weekend in NYC? The Park South Hotel (parksouthhotel.com) often has weekend packages. Or try looking on Luxurylink.com They often have interesting 1 & 2 night offers-maybe just to get some ideas.

Lewes DE. Or even Cape May. Or both--take the ferry.

This is a little further than you want to drive, but a nice trip (probably 3 1/2 hr. drive from Philly) would be to Deep Creek Lake in Western Maryland, skiing if you're interested, or just cuddling by a fireplace. Specifically, the Lake Point Inn looks great--I only live a little more than an hour from here and want to check it out sometime. http://www.virtualcities.com/ons/md/d/mdd9701ref.htm
Also, some other interesting B&B's can be found at:

An area to consider is the Kennet Square/Brandywine area, about 1 hour south of Philadelphia. This area straddles the border between PA and Delaware, and is beautiful country. The Winterthur museum and Longwood Gardens are here, both worth about a day each, esp Winterthur if you like American history and furniture. Take a look at http://www.winterthur.org and http://www.longwoodgardens.org. A great hotel in the area is the Inn at Montchanin Village. Take a look at http://www.slh.com/usa/montchanin.

A second possibility would be the eastern shore of Maryland, esp St. Michaels area. This would be about 2 hours south of Philadelphia. A beautiful part of the country with farms and waterways leading to Chesapeake Bay. Great for fishing and boating, could be a bit cool in October, but so quiet and peaceful. St. Michaels is fairly popular on this site, run a search.

Have you considered the Amish area around Lancaster? I think that you might enjoy the Strasburg Inn......... www.historicstrasburginn.com
