better to have your header read "romantic ideas for newport beach" for better responses

An evening reservation at the "Palacio do Rei" in Rio de Janeiro. Make sure to get the "Rei suite" with the vibrating bed, in room jacuzzi slash sauna, and extended cable porn options. Once the room is arranged, and you have handy some reliable American prophylactics (the Brazilian ones are either shoddy, way too big, or both) and the minibar is stocked with good beer, then peruse the back page of the classifieds in O Globo and make the call.

Ahhh, romance... at it's very finest!

didn't she ask for ideas in newport beach and not rio?

Oh you gringos are all the same. Thinking that some stuck up, repressed, boring community of white people has anything to offer in the way of romance.

The posting inquired about romantic ideas, and frankly, I interpreted the text of her comment to be one of suggestion, one of tossing out an idea of a Newport Beach getaway as a possible solution.

I rest my case. Phew.

If John is the type of guy I'd run into in Brazil, that just confirms why I would choose to vacation in California.

Any advice on Newport Beach?

John Aug 21st, 2002 09:27 PM

Excuse me for that.

I actually have stayed at a very nice bed and breakfast not in Newport, but up the coast a bit in nearby Seal Beach. I believe it was the Seal Beach Inn. Each room had an individually designed decor, all very Victorian, and all within a nice walk to the beach. Prices are reasonable, but this is because most of the rooms are somewhat smaller than what is offered in a major hotel... thus, I'd suggest booking one of the larger rooms in advance.

Beautiful, unique rooms in a small boutique setting. Nice garden area where breakfast is served everyday alfresco weather permitting. It was a wonderful experience.

I think they have a website, I'm tempted to say "sealbeachinn.com" but I'd do a quick internet search to verify the alphabetics. Seriously, I liked this place, it was VERY romantic.
