Romantic Honeymoon Dinner in Seattle
 

We're leaving for our honeymoon shortly. We'll be spending the last four days in Seattle. Can anyone recommend a *nice* restaurant at which to have a romantic dinner? Somewhere where we could dress up, maybe make reservations -- you know, candlelight, soft music, the whole deal. Not over the top expensive, but maybe &lt;$150 for the whole meal -- including modest drinking. <BR>We're staying at the Ace Hotel (any reviews? we found it via a tip from this very forum). We'll have a car but if the weather's nice we'd prefer to walk. <BR>I've received such great help here, I hope yall can do it again. Thanks in advance.

There are a couple places at the Pike Place Market that would work for a romantic dinner: Chez Shea, Place Pigalle, Campagne, Il Bistro. Chez Shea is especially romantic, I think. Chez Shea and Place Pigalle have a nice view. You should definitely make reservations at least a day or two ahead. For reviews, hours, etc., seattle.citysearch.com is a good resource. <BR> <BR>Hmm, Ace Hotel for a honeymoon. I hope you got one of the few rooms with a private bath! It's a very basic place (a bit nicer than a hostel, but not much), but it's in a fun area of town and it does have a very hip, trendy atmosphere. <BR> <BR>Have fun and I hope the weather cooperates for you (but be prepared for rain)!

thanks for the tips. <BR> <BR>we do have a room with a private bath at the ace. we really liked the look of the place, at least from their website. we tried to stay away from the big chain hotels on our honeymoon, partly so we would feel like we were in a new place and so we could experience a little more of each place's personality. in a lot of the big hotel chains every room looks the same in every city. we wanted something different. <BR> <BR>i've read reviews of place pigalle, it sounds really nice. what have you had there that you've enjoyed? is there a specialty of the house that we shouldn't miss?? <BR> <BR>any suggestions on restaurants in vancouver??? <BR> <BR>thanks again. your help is much appreciated.

I agree with you on the chain hotels; I much prefer the independents. My idea of romantic is more cozy, I guess, than the Ace, which is very stark and minimalist. But hey, everyone's taste is different, so if you like that look, you'll love the Ace! <BR> <BR>I've had lamb several times at Place Pigalle and it's always been very nicely done. I've also had excellent seafood dishes there. It seems to me that their menu changes seasonally to keep up with what's fresh in the Northwest, so I don't recall a particular specialty.

We are going this month to Seattle for our anniversary--not telling which one! We have a reservation for our anniversary dinner at Place Pigalle, recommended by friends who know Seattle quite well. If you go to Savvy.com you can look at a sample menu with prices as well as make reservations online. At first I wanted to go to Campagne, but have been told that it's terribly expensive for the quality of the meal. Cafe Campagne has been recommended instead. Others that our friends said were Il Bistro, Painted Table, El Gaucho (no, not a little Mexican place--kind of a Martini/cigar retro place), and Chez Shea. If you have a car, maybe someone on this forum can tell you more about the Herb Farm? We didn't investigate because we won't have a car. Congratulations!

Dera honeymooner: <BR>You might also want to consider Nell's at Green Lake (the former Saleh al Lago), or Rover's in Madison Valley. Dinner at the latter will run to a bit more than you've specified, but it will be the experience of a lifetime! A meal you'll never forget. <BR>Ray's Boathouse on Shilshole Bay gets pretty romantic at sunset, and the seafood is quite good as well.

For romance, Chez Shea is great. So is Georgian Room at 4 Seasons. Cascadia is romantic and excellent Food at Campagne is superb - and not that much more expensive. Canlis is traditional Seattle for celebrations. Book any of these WEEKS IN ADVANCE! You won't get in any other way. Don't recommed Pigalle for an occasion - it's OK for everyday, but not for something special. Dick

have dinner at the space needle. I've lived here all my life and the view during dinner is extraordinary, & the bread is the best you'll ever have. the clam chowder is delicious. we recommend <BR>the prime rib. have seafood at ivar's restaurant or ray's boat house. before or after dinner you can enjoy the seattle center.
