What side to sit on plane to view islands on landing?
I'm flying from Los Angeles to Honolulu and want to know which side to sit on to view the islands when approaching hawaii. Currently I'm booked on the left side. Is that right?

Good question! The left side I'm referring to is looking TOWARD the cockpit if your facing the front of the plane.
For the people that concurred to sit on left side, you mean left side if your facing TOWARD the cockpit/front of plane.

If you sit on the left side (facing forward) and you are approaching from the east and the plane lands toward the west the only view you may get is of the ocean.
OTOH if the plane circles around so that it lands toward the east, THEN you'll get a view of the island.
Icuy is correct that the landings will depend on the wind direction.

I know the winds play a large part in how they approach, but I can honestly say in about 20 trips to Honolulu, the view was on the left side only 2 of the 20 trips. I always sit on the right side based on those experiences!

Absolutely right - you will see the islands as you approach Honolulu if you are sitting on the left. What I meant by the view was having Oahu on the right as you approach the airport from Diamond Head to Waikiki. It depends on what you want to see, but if you've never been to Oahu, I think the right side is a great view.
