Romantic bed & breakfast in Northeast
Any recommendations for a romantic getaway at a bed & breakfast in the northeast region not more than 6 hrs from NY? No children. Prefer full breakfast not continental. In area with other things to do. Can be mid-week or weekend, after April 6. Thank you.

We loved the J. Harper Poor Cottage in Easthampton. The breakfasts were fantastic, the place is gorgeous, and it's right in the heart of town. I think the inn has been sold since we visited.

Sorry, posted that too soon - I don't know if the change in ownership has affected overall quality or not, but we loved it.
Also enjoyed the Centre Bridge Inn in New Hope, PA. |
The Mayflower Inn is a short drive from NYC...........
http://www.mayflowerinn.com/ Blantyre is in MA and it's outstanding. http://www.blantyre.com/ The White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport, ME is outstanding. The restaurant is excellent. http://www.whitebarninn.com/ Home Hill is very nice also. http://www.homehillinn.com/ Glendorn is nice. Drive up to Niagra Falls on your way home. http://www.glendorn.com/ Bullis Hall is nearby........... http://www.bullishall.com/ I loved Lake Placid Lodge and The Point........ http://www.lakeplacidlodge.com/z-home.htm http://www.thepointresort.com/ The Pitcher Inn is very nice also. http://www.pitcherinn.com/ I might just go to The Mayflower and let that be it. I think it's about an hour and a half from NYC. Of course you could also go to Nantucket and stay at The Wauwinet but I would fly there. Or you could fly to Martha's Vineyard and stay at Charlotte Inn. http://www.wauwinet.com/ http://www.elegantsmallhotel.com/hotels/esh1757.html Here's a good website for some mighty fine inns..........if you ever get south please go to The Blackberry Farm near Knoxville, TN. http://www.relaischateaux.com/page.p...p;zone=usa_est Have a great trip. |

I would highly recommend an inn I stayed at this past September, in the Adirondacks, at this site: http://www.saranacclubandinn.com/ Beautiful home, you'll feel sooo pampered and indulged, yet never stuffy - pure creature comfort. The rooms are large, clean, mattresses are tempur-pedics - a unique and great sleeping experience. Breakfasts delicious and homemade, with a bounty of fruits, baked goods, and a couple of daily specials. Fresh baked cookies and sweets/drinks left by your bedroom door every evening. The staff are friendly and most helpful, yet not at all intrusive. You are literally 5 minutes from Lake Placid, and of course in the middle of the Adirondack mountains, with all the hiking, boating, and nature experiences to help you really feel like you've gotten away from NY. I would give it 5 stars for romance - one of the nicest inns I've ever stayed at. (can you tell I liked it?) |
