Romantic Beach Getaway...No kids

I am looking for someplace my husband and I can go for 4 nights and just think about nothing and look a beautiful beach. We are leaving our little ones at home and mom (moi) doesn't want to think about where to go or what to do once we get there. I would like to stay somewhere with GREAT service and lots of pampering. Is there such a place? Please help me! Thank you!

It's hard to respond to that - not knowing where you live. But, if you're interested in the Jersey shore, Cape May is lovely. Beautiful B&B's and nice restaurants.

I was thinking of Cape May too. Jersey has beautiful beaches and the ocean is warmer than in New Emgland. But if you wanted to go to Maine and stay on a very quiet island you might try The Dark Harbor House (The house isn't dark at all. It's a big yellow (Georgian style, I think) mansion. While not directly on the ocean, you'll be on Isleboro just off Camden, Maine. The Dark Harbor House was recommended by Charles Karault in a travel book of his. It was lovely, the food just grand and perfect service. Either way, you'll have a lovely time. Cape May is filled with Victorian "painted ladies" and shops galore. More quiet that northern beaches. And Jersey has such good food...wonderful fish places. Have fun!

Post looks awfully familiar! Highly recommend Little Palm Island off the coast of Florida, or Nantucket Island, off the coast of Cape Cod, MA. Check them out on the web....

Here are my nominations for romantic beach respite sans children: 1. Sooke Harbour House in Sooke on Vancouver Island in British Columbia -- gorgeous rooms, some with deep whirlpool baths for two; lovely gardens; very special restaurant; and an unbeatable setting on the Juan de Fuca Strait; directly on the Strait with gardens rolling right down to the water and, at the north end of the property a long sandy spit separating the Strait from the harbor, great walking here! Sooke is only 30 miles from Victoria. 2.) Four Seasons Biltmore in Santa Barbara in California -- we're talking prime-time pampering here in a beautiful part of the world. 3.) Sandy Cove Inn or Dancing Coyote Beach -- both on Tomales Bay, both with their very own beach near the village of Inverness in the heart of Point Reyes National Seashore. Within the park and only a short drive or hike away, there is Heart's Desire Beach . . . which is actually swimmable in the summer months (bay waters are shallower and heat up to comfortable bathing temperatures). Point Reyes is merely gorgeous, offering many varieties of scenic splendour: forests, valleys, meadows, beaches, lagoons, estuaries, tide pools, mountain ridges, bay and creek walks as well as fine dining and good booking (in the shops) in Point Reyes Station. Have a GREAT time wherever you go!
