Seeing a good rate at $144 a night for early August. What can you tell me about the hotel?
Thanks~

It was named after the founder of Rhode Island

It was just renovated a couple of years ago and the outside is spectacular.

WOW, GRAP THAT RATE and don't think twice about it!! The hotel is quite nice, and was recently redone as mentioned earlier. It is well located on Madison Ave with a couple of stellar restaurants close by. It close to shopping, and subway and the bus going uptown stops almost in front of the hotel.

I had a client in town from Atlanta and his wife stay there and they loved the hotel, so with that kind of rate i'd say do it.

Just realized that there is an $18 "resort fee" added to the above rate. Now I am not so sure...

OK, went for it as I couldn't find anything comparable on either hotwire. I tried priceline too, but couldn't get anything close to that rate as a bid to work.

I got it through perfectescapes.com and it has free bottle of champagne, and is eligible for: upgrade, early checkin and late checkout [as available]. It was prepaid with no refund, nor cancel.

I think you will be quite pleased with the hotel. It's close enough to everything, but very quiet area at night, other than the fire house a few blocks away. Madison Ave should have little traffic at night, so very little noise.

There are several restaurants just a couple of blocks away, some delis, a Duane Reade and most creature comforts you might need.

The Lex Ave Subway line is on Park Ave and 28th so just a couple of blocks away and one of the main shopping areas is 34th ST and that's a quick walk also.

Thanks for your input travelbuff! I think it will be perfect.

We stayed there for one night about a year ago. The location is terrific. Rooms are quite small, but that's not unusual for NYC. We paid $25 for an upgrade, which got us a small terrace that looked out over the spire of the Empire State bldg., beautiful at night. The upgrade was offered at check-in. There was a good & inexpensive place for breakfast on the other side of Madison and a couple of blocks south, sorry but can't remember the name. Service staff friendly & unobtrusive. Enjoy NYC!

Thanks so much mclaurie! I was able to check out The Dupont Hotel where we are also staying.

DebitNM -- you've given me some great New Mexico and southwestern Colorado suggestions so maybe I can return some the favor here. I've stayed at the Roger Williams several times over the last few years, and generally have been very pleased. It seems to be very popular with Europeans. The smallish lobby can get crowded at times, the quality of my rooms there has ranged from great to adequate, and they have a decent breakfast buffet in the mornings, but the price and location are hard to beat.

Just a fast report back on this -- hotel was in perfect location. The room was small but very clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom very small but adequate.

Recommend the hotel without hesitation and would return any time.
