Rodeo - Houston?
Ok, a funny one this...
We will be in Houston (visiting from the UK)first week in August, does anyone know of anywhere within say 90 minutes driving where we could catch a rodeo or something similar? I'm sorry to display my complete ignorance - I don't know if such events are seasonal like football, baseball etc. My husband visited Odessa Texas a few years back and caught one then, and he thought out girls would enjoy it - only he can't remember the time of year or anything!! |
Doesn't look like it. Try this link for Texas events -

there is a famous rodeo in the outskirts of town--I think about 90 miles west on a road called "Westheimer"--[FM 1093, I think]--and I think it is on most weekends--

The big rodeo here is in February and it really is pretty spectacular.
There's this one in Schulenburg on the way from Houston to San Antonio (http://www.schulenburgfestival.org/Events/rodeo.htm) and that's the first week in August. Don't really go to the rodeo but I just typed in "texas""rodeo""august&quo t; in google and got a few hits but most are far from houston. There seems to be a big one in Denton but that is north of Dallas (Dallas being a 4 hour drive from Houston). |
Need to add, that drive, btw is close compared to the norm here. Texas is BIG. My honey is from the UK too and he never tires of saying how far everything is from each other so just wanted to give you a heads up on the driving bit just so you are prepared.

I found by googling that there is a gay rodeo around that time. Double culture exposure :-)

starsville, you're funny. I saw that too, actually....

You wouldn't happen to be coming to Dallas, too, would you? Dallas has the Mesquite Rodeo, which is every Friday and Saturday night, April through September. www.mesquiterodeo.com
