Rockefeller Center to Loeb Boathouse
What is the best way to get from Rockefeller Center to the Loeb Boathouse in Central Park to rent rowboats? Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

I am not being glib-walk. It is about 1/2 hour if you do not stop and you can some of the park. If not go to Madison Ave and take a NYC bus and ask the driver for the stop to 72nd St and then walk west toward the park and the entrance. After entering head north or ask someone.

agree,, simplest is to walk in take in the city and park

You will have to walk a reasonable part of it anyway - since vehicles are not allowed in the park.
If you go to the website of the central park conservancy you will be able to get a map to show how to get there from Fifth Ave. |
You can take the 6 subway to 68th Street and then walk for 15 minutes or you can take the bus up Madison Avenue and get off near 72 street and walk 10 minutes, or you can take a taxi.
You could also take the R to 60th St./5th Avenue and walk 20 minutes through the park. Unless you take a taxi there's going to be walking involved. |
From Rockefeller Center walk to 6th Avenue (the station is 47th-50th Sts/Rockefeller Center)and take an Uptown D train to 59th St-Columbus Circle. At 59th St go across the platform for the local train B or C) for one stop to 72nd St.
[Note if you are traveling on a weekday and a B train pulls in at the 47th-50th St station, you can take it (rather than the D to 59th St) to 72nd St.] When you exit to the street at 72nd St, cross over Central Park West and enter Central Park. In the park, follow the signs to the Bethesda Fountain. The boathouse is on the other side of the 'lake' near the fountain. |
