That's an affectionate term for the Colonnade's regulars - by the Colonnade's regulars. Old Atlanta wealthy (now mostly widows) and the young devotees. On your next visit, walk in the door and see for yourself. Everyone is welcome, of course. But the regulars are the g & gs. It's a fabulous place.

Robert Spano (director of the Atlanta Symphony) was quoted in today's AJC article as saying the Colonnade is a combination of gay bar and geriatric ward. But the clientele are much more diverse than that. The only problem (now that they take credit cards) is the long wait to get a table. First place we think about when we're in the mood for comfort food at a reasonable price.

The ATM in the lobby was enough.
Dwd, have you been to Matthew's in Tucker? |
Loved the Colonnade--we met Atlanta friends there on the way back from the Gulf one time. And loved hearing what they called it!! We met for Sunday lunch--and did have cash!
I had the livers!! DEELICIOUS!! |
starrs--no, we have not. We very rarely go to Tucker. Looks good. Is it worth the drive from Brookhaven?
BTW--went to the Colonnade for an early dinner Sunday--they no longer take checks now that they take cards. |
"Is it worth the drive from Brookhaven?"
It's less than 10 miles so I'd say "without a doubt". That's just a hop, skip and a jump". :-) Seriously. Good food in a cafeteria setting that's unchanged for decades...which is a compliment. If you do drive out to Tucker, you should also stop at Sherry's Product Stand. It's a little corner, family owned produce stand with good veggies, jellies, seasonal stuff (flowers, Christmas wreaths, etc.) and some of the nicest people around. http://www.yelp.com/biz/sherrys-produce-tucker https://www.facebook.com/pages/Matth...21266427888172 |
