Roadtrip from Orlando FL to Los Angeles CA
We are two adults planning a roadtrip from Orlando in Florida to Los Angeles or San Francisco in California.
We're from North Norway and are planning to fly to Orlando visit Walt Disney World and then rent a car for 3 1\2 week and drive from Orlando to Los Angeles or San Francisco
At the moment our only plan is that we want to see New Orleans on the way. What else do we have to visit on our trip?

Time of year makes a huge difference. Summer much of the south will be hot as hell - often more than 100 degrees - and even more in the desert. In the winter the north will likely be super cold and heavy snows with road closures for days at a time are possible. Also - you haven't given yourself a lot of time to see much on the way.
Agree you need to tell us if you prefer big cities, natural beauty - or what in partiuclar.

We are going in february. We are very much into music and culture. We would like to see some places that are not typical turist places.
Grand Canyon is something we must try to get to.

It would be best to stay in the southern part of the U.S. In Texas, there is San Antonio and its missions. You might want to investigate the possibility of Big Bend National Park. Taos, Santa Fe, Acoma, Bandelier National Monument might all be comfortably reachable in that season (you could also devote a day to skiing in the Taos ski resort). The south rim of the Grand Canyon should be reachable. If going to San Francisco, you'll want to go from the Grand Canyon to the coast and drive up highway 1. Stop in Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park for the redwoods, or in Big Basin inland from Santa Cruz.
to whet your appetite:
For San Antonio, but in a different season: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mksfca/...ith/4516083537
New Mexico, also in a different season: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mksfca/...7622984070940/
And the California coast: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mksfca/...ith/4853767722 mostly in the wrong season but three pictures were taken near San Simeon on a drive taken during a major storm on New Year's Day. Highway 1 is doable in almost any weather unless it is closed down because of mud and rock slides.
