Roadtrip: Central OR/WA vs ID/NV/MO?

Hi all, will be driving from Calgary, AB down to Napa, CA in July. We will be going through Seattle, down the Oregon coastline, Redwood forest, etc.

Question is, on the way back, should we take the route through central Oregon and Washington (Bend, Spokane, etc.) or through Nevada/Idaho/Montana. We will have about a week to get from Napa back to Calgary, and we are hoping to camp as often as possible. Mainly looking for camping/scenery, although cultural stops and wineries are always fun as well.

Thanks a ton!

I'd choose central Oregon and Washington, especially for the wineries.

I'd add a few miles to the trip. Into one of the mapping programs, put Napa to Jackson, WY, to Gardiner, MT, to Calgary.

This puts you through Grand Teton and Yellowstone NPs, can't beat the scenery and there will be camping opportunities too. A week could give you 3 long driving days and 4 days in the parks.

FYI, "MO" is Missouri. MT is Montana. Was wondering how you were going to drive from Nevada to Missouri without intervening states. . .

I really like US 97 for pretty much the whole way - stop for a look at Crater Lake, swing west for a couple of hours to visit the Mt. Hood and the Columbia Gorge, visit Maryhill Museum and the faux Bavarian village of Leavenworth, maybe take a day trip up Lake Chelan, then cross the border at Osoyoos and consider traveling through the Kootenays to Revelstoke, then through Banff to Calgary.
